LIFTING OF BAN ON SMALL SCALE MINING: US EMBASSY JOINS THE CONVERSATION, MEETS SMALL SCALE MINERS AND STAKEHOLDERS IN PRESTEA. The struggle by the Small Scale Mining Association in Ghana, and stake holders as well as key stakeholders in mining communities in Ghana keeps receiving energy, and the latest is the joining of   foreign governments embassies expressing deep concern over   matters arising since the President Akuffo Addo led administration placed ban enbloc on all forms of local small scale mining and artisanal mining (galamsey). The US Embassy in Ghana today had a meeting with Small Scale Miners in Prestea today, as part of their responsibilities to seeing a successful Ghana. The group were led to Nana Nteboah Prah IV, the divisional chief of Prestea –Heman traditional area before they came to meet the Small Scale Miners. The handling of mining issues in Ghana after President Akuffo Addo ascended to the throne of Kwame Nkrumah ’ s Ghana is an issue that needs a lot deliberations. Findings by Prestea Communicators for Development, a civil society group based in Prestea shows the NPP administration is indulging in some kind of dishonest dealings with the good people of Ghana, especially in eight regions of this country (except greater Accra and Volta) where mining of gold takes place in various forms. PRESTEA HUNI-VALLEY DCE, HON. MOZART K. OWUH INSPECTS FIVE-ONGOING PROJECTS IN HIS DISTRICT, SAYS HE IS SATISFIED WITH PACE OF WORK DONE. The District Chief Executive for Prestea Huni-Valley District, Hon. Mozart K. Owuh this morning, together with the DCD, Mr. Asante, staff of District Assembly and Assembly Members and some key executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party embacked on on-site inspection of five-key projects he cut sod for its construction barely two and half months ago. Speaking to Prestea Communicators for Development during the inspection of 4-unit classroom block at Prestea Senior High School, the workaholic DCE, Hon. Mozart K. Owuh stated “when I cut sod for all the five projects, I urged the contractors to complete it within six months period”. The projects are ultra modern KG-block Pateporm; 4-unit apartment for staff of district assembly, ultra modern Chip Compound at Gyimakrom; 1-cell cultvert bridge at Himan; and 4-unit classroom at Prestea SHTS. ...
